Two weeks after the Antwerp Culture Weekend, on Sunday 11 September, Open Monuments Day will take place with the theme ‘sustainability’. More than 35 buildings in Antwerp open their doors, and there are also four themed city walks and a bike ride in the city. All locations are free to visit.
There aren’t many heritage railways in Belgium, but Stoomtrein Maldegem-Eeklo or Steam Train Maldegem-Eeklo is on of them. April 2021. As COVID-19 still rages and we still live under coronavirus countermeasures, Oriol and I were looking fore hiking trails. As a long-time follower of Denzil‘s Discovering Belgium, I looked for inspiration on his hiking and nature blog and settled for ‘A 23 km hike around Viroinval‘.
May 2021. The Belgian government lifted the ban on leisure travel in April, but strict travel rules limited options. As the Balearic Islands – lles Balears or Islas Baleares – were a yellow zone, we booked flights and a hotel in Palma de Mallorca.
Today and tomorrow is Erfgoeddag or Heritage Day in Flanders and in Antwerp. Theme for the 20th edition is ‘The Night‘.
Stoomcentrum Maldegem holds it annual Stoomtreinfestival or Steam Train Festival on 4 and 5 May. Steam trains will run between Maldegem and Eeklo in the province of East Flanders in Belgium.
