Just days before the 2025 summer holidays for politics in Belgium, which starts after the National Holiday on 21 July, the Flemish Government approved the project for a bicycle bridge over the River Scheldt in Antwerp. Flanders will pay the bill, Gazet van Antwerpen reports.

Antwerp-Linkeroever Railway Station to reopen in 2026!
Well, well, well. We were adamant it wouldn’t happen, but it will. Belgium‘s national train operator NMBS / SNCB and rail infrastructure manager Infrabel are going to refurbish Antwerp-Linkeroever Railway Station. The Belgian Railways sent out a press release.

Antwerp-Linkeroever Railway Station will not being reopened any time soon. While the City of Antwerp would love a reopening to compensate the closure of the Scheldt tram tunnel (for renovation works), NMBS / SNCB has ruled out this option, Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Nieuwsblad report.

Until 23 February, Antwerp‘s Sint-Anne’s Pedestrian Tunnel, better known in town as the Voetgangerstunnel, offers a unique underground spectacle. In collaboration with the Roads and Traffic Agency or Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer (AWV) of Flanders, the University of Antwerp is simulating a particle accelerator in the tunnel.
