REVIEW | Holiday Inn LaGuardia Airport

After landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York I took a taxi to Holiday Inn LaGuardia Airport near LaGuardia Airport. The next day I would catch a flight to Wilmington, North Carolina.

One doesn’t stay at such a hotel for pleasure. You stay there because it’s close to the airport, for work, for a conference or for sports. Holiday Inn LaGuardia Airport is also near Arthur Ashe Stadium (tennis) and Citi Field (baseball).

The room

The room is ‘typically American’: spacious, not very nice to look at but clean and functional. A kingsize bed, a large bathroom with (low) bathtub and shower and a toilet.

There are some, but not many, power outlets. There’s a coffee and tea machine and quite noticeable: a microwave oven.

The bed is comfortable, the airconditioning is easy to operate and you don’t need to insert your keycard to have light.

The gym and other facilities

In the basement the gym area is substantial with treadmills, a bicycle, crosstrainers, weights, yoga mats etc. Towels are provided.

Also in the basement is a guest laundry room. That and the microwave suggest the hotel has customers ‘living out their suitcase’.

Restaurant

I didn’t have breakfast because of an early flight but I did try the Pine Restaurant, which doubles as sports bar. The menu has many options and the prices are reasonable. Don’t forget: American portions are huge!

Conclusion

Holiday Inn LaGuardia Airport was fine. Clean, comfortable, good WiFi, friendly staff. A good option near LaGuardia Airport.
