As I live by the motto, better safe than sorry and I would like to see Venice I booked an extra night in Venice before we embarked on our cruise. For this night we selected the Hotel Villa Rosa, located on the same island as the main railway station meaning it had easy acces to all transportation options. While we arrived there by the Alilaguna boat service from the airport we could walk a short route to the Piazzale Roma where the people mover starts that took us to the cruise terminal.
The hotel is located in a narrow and quiet street in a mostly residential neighbourhood of Venice, you have to really pay attention to the small sign outside or you would just walk past.
In true Venice style it has a sober exterior and a typical “classical” interior decoration and a true maze inside. After climbing an endless amount of stairs we reached our small but adequate room. It had an interesting colour usage with green tones but there was good working airconditioning and comfortable beds.
The bathroom was tiny, but clean with a relatively big shower. Towels and basic toiletries where provided. The breakfast was served downstairs. On every table there was a small basket with some small breads. On a small buffet along the wall you had some more items like pastries, yoghurts and cold cuts. There where also the obligatory juice and coffee machines for your morning drinks.
All in all it was a very basic but sufficientyl equipped hotel for a single nights stay.
