MIMA – Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art in Brussels

Winter 2021. Yes COVID-19 is still a thing. But in Belgium, museums are open. So Thanh and I visited MIMA, the Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art in the Brussels municipality of St John’s Molenbeek (Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Sint-Jans-Molenbeek), making use of out museumPASSmusées.

2020. Corona. Travelling is a different game. Yet our Fernweh acted up too often. So we arranged a train trip to Germany and Austria. Specifically to Leipzig in Saxony, several spots in Bavaria and returning home with ÖBB‘s Nightjet from Innsbruck in Tyrol to Brussels in Belgium.

I love-love-love microstates, small nations and other quirks of geopolitical history. Primus inter pares is of course the Vatican or Vatican City in Rome. Last time I went, was in 2016, with Steve. 

AREAS OF ANTWERP | Zurenborg

The Zurenborg neighbourhood in Antwerp is more than the Cogels-Osylei. It’s street with names of cinstellations (e.g. Stierstraat – Taurus Street and Tweelingenstraat – Gemini Street).

Darklands 2020 was the last dance before COVID-19

No, Darklands 2020 in Antwerp wasn’t completely carefree. There were already signs of the coronavirus, as COVID-19 was usually called back then. But still, it was the last dance. The last major gay event in Belgium. A few days later, on Friday 13 March 2020, the Government announced the first coronavirus countermeasures.
