Limburg Pride 2025 prepares for its first march in Hasselt

The Belgian province of Limburg is preparing for its first pride march, which will take place in Hasselt on Sunday 13 July 2025. When the Limburg Pride chairman, Bert Broone, and his team put the finishing touches to the celebration, Marc of GayLive.be talked to them.

Organisers say everything is nearly ready, although there are still a few details to be finalised. The calendar of events, which includes numerous activities during Pride Month and Pride Week — the last week before Pride — is regularly updated on the Limburg Pride website.

Some of the highlights include Monkey Temple, which is organising workshops the day before Pride, and CinemaZ, which is offering films and other activities over a period of three days. The Pre-Pride Party at Area V is also a key fixture in the calendar.

On the day

On 13 July, Hasselt is set to become a riot of colour and celebration. The Pride Village will be located in the above-ground car park at Kolonel Dusartplein and will be open from 12 PM until 8 PM. Stalls, food trucks, a bouncy castle and a Rainbow Square will form a central meeting point for the community.

The main stage, situated at Koning Albertplein, will feature a range of performers, including Belle Perez, Bart Kaëll, 2 Fabiola and several DJs. The festival runs from 4 PM until 11 PM, with speeches from city officials and from Bert Broone at 1.30 PM.

Pride parade

The pride parade is due to take place from 2 PM until 4 PM, following a route along the small ring road. The march will include a number of community groups, alongside approximately ten motorised trucks.

Registrations for motorised vehicles are already closed, but there is still some space for groups who wish to join the procession.

Song

Limburg Pride is also launching its own pride song this year. The song was a collaborative project, tailored to reflect the annual theme of mental health. It was composed by a volunteer, who is also involved in the event’s logistics and production. The song was officially released on 13 June in Maasmechelen Village, with the hope that it will be played by radio stations in the region.

The main day for Limburg Pride is Sunday, 13 July, but there are numerous related events taking place in Hasselt and its surroundings in the lead-up. The pride visitor’s guide is available in a number of physical locations, at pride itself, or by email upon request. Further information can be found on the official website, limburgpride.be, and on social media under limburgpride.vzw.
