REVIEW | Qatar Airways Q-Suite Business Class Doha to Tokyo

Autumn 2025. We – Sam and Danny, Michel and Wille, and Timothy – are travelling to Japan for a quite classic tour of the Land of the Rising Sun. We are flying separately as we used miles. On the planning: Tokyo, Kanazawa, Shirakawa, Osaka, and Expo 2025, Hiroshima, Himeji, Miyajima, Kyoto, Nara, Nagoya, Hakone, and back to Tokyo. Three weeks plus some extra days.

After our layover in the lounge and having freshened up in the shower we headed to our gate for our onward flight to Tokyo. Bizarrely they started boarding Economy class first, so us Business Class passengers had to wait to board as the last ones.

Flight Time 9 hours 28 minutes

Delivered to Qatar Airways in June 2016

Upon boarding however we where amazed by the atmosphere the Q-suites gave off, this truly looks and feels like a different kind of business class experience. We had 3E and 3F, two middle rear-facing seats. They are right next to each other and by letting the divider down they can be turned into a 2 persons bed together, which was very cosy.

At the seat we could find two pillows, a blanket, headphones, a water bottle, a Diptyque refreshment towel and this time also a proper leather Diptyque amenity kit. Later in the flight Sam would smooth talk himself into getting two more amenity kits because he didn’t get one on the first flight. Of course we were also handed the menu for the flight.

As a pre-departure beverage I selected the famous lemon-mint which is indeed delicious and refreshing.

After take-off we were once again served an aperitif with some crisps. As it was a very late night departure the meal service was an abbreviated one. We had a pre-ordered the lamb shank, which wasn’t very tasty. Sam had a taste of the teriyaki sliders on the main menu and they were much tastier.

Thanks to the very late departure we were absolutely knackered and slept like a bay throughout most of the flight. It was my best sleep ever on a plane. After the meal they made up my bed with an extra mattress padding and it was a very comfortable sleeping experience.

Before landing I had the salmon as a pre-landing meal, while it didn’t look very good it actually tasted very nice.

Landing and arrival into Japan at Narita Airport went reasonably smooth and fast, however due to the relatively late arrival of our flight we had a longer wait for our Narita Express into the city as the frequency was lowered towards the end of the day.

All in all we had an excellent experience on Qatar Airways with very friendly crews, good food and a wonderful sleep in their excellent Q-suite. We will definably book Qatar Airways in the future again if they offer the best price-quality.
