ANTWERP | Murals to return to Voetgangerstunnel

The Roads and Traffic Agency (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer) will restore the original frescoes in the St. Anne’s Pedestrian Tunnel or Sint-Annavoetgangerstunnel this year. Antwerp resident Karel Gilleir (74) has been striving for the restoration since 2013. 

ANTWERP | Rubens House closed for renovation

The Rubens House in Antwerp received its very last for a while on 8 January 2023. The closure of the museum is the starting signal for the renovation of Rubens’ greatest masterpiece: the historic artist’s home. 

ANTWERP | Start of the second phase of the restoration of the Sint-Jacobskerk

Now that the west side is ready, work will also start on the east side of the Sint-Jacobskerk or St. James’ Church in Antwerp on 7 November. The roofs and facades, stained glass windows, interior walls and vaults will be thoroughly overhauled. The complete restoration is foreseen in the course of 2027.
