Brussels Airlines continues its fleet renewal programme and will welcome three more Airbus A320neo aircraft in its fleet by summer 2026. The A320neo uses less fuel, produces up to 20% less CO2-emissions, and represents a 50% noise reduction compared to previous generation aircraft. This will bring the total number of A320neo aircraft in the fleet of Brussels Airlines to eight.
On 1 November 2023, Brussels Airlines received its first Airbus A320neo, straight from the Airbus factory in Toulouse. This was a milestone moment for Brussels Airlines, as it was the first time in the history of the carrier that brand-new aircraft joined the fleet.
Brussels Airlines currently has five A320neos and is excited to announce that three more aircraft of this type will join the fleet by summer 2026. These state-of-the-art aircraft will replace two older A319-aircraft. The third unit is used to expand the fleet.

We are also growing our fleet, which creates extra jobs and improves connectivity for Belgium. And last but not least: the A320neo is a joy to fly, both for passengers and crew, thanks to it’s upgraded, comfortable cabins, the quietness during the flight and additional space for hand luggage”, Dorothea von Boxberg, CEO, Brussels Airlines, says in the press release.
Fleet renewal is an important part Brussels Airlines’ strategy to reduce its carbon footprint. The A320neo reduces CO2 emissions up to 20% compared to its predecessor.
As Brussels Airlines uses the A320neo to replace smaller A319-aircraft, the benefits are even bigger, with reductions up to 30% per passenger. The A320neo also represents a 50% noise reduction compared to previous generation aircraft.
Improved passenger experience
The A320neo isn’t just an improvement in terms of sustainability, also for passengers the A320neo is a step forward. With 50% less noise, it’s a much more enjoyable flying experience. Brussels Airlines also introduced a new cabin design concept on the A320neo, with new, more comfortable ergonomic seats.
The lightning in the cabin can be adjusted to the time of day, helping passengers to feel more energized after their flight. The A320neo also has 40% larger overhead bins, increasing the capacity for hand luggage in the cabin.
The next A320neo’s are expected to join the Brussels Airlines’ fleet in the first six months of 2026.This timeline can move due to worldwide supply chain delays of the aircraft manufacturers.
Brussels Airlines on a journey of profitable growth
Brussels Airlines has reached a cost-base that allows the company to be profitable in a sustainable way. This allows the Belgian airline to invest in its future. Brand-new aircraft joining the fleet are a very tangible result of this strategy.
The A320neo has 180 seats and is used on the short- and medium-haul network. Also on the long-haul network, Brussels Airlines is growing, with three additional Airbus A330 aircraft to join the fleet in the coming years. Brussels Airlines will also completely redesign the cabin interior of its long-haul fleet to ensure a premium passenger experience. This is an investment of more than 100 million euros.
