After my train trip all the way from Antwerp to Toulouse, I had quite a late arrival in the Crowne Plaza Toulouse. Luckily the hotel is located smack-bang in the middle of the city centre, right next to the Capitole, and only a short metro trip away from the station. Upon arrival the very friendly guy behind the reception desk welcomed me and swiftly gave me my room keys so I could drop my stuff and relax after the long journey.
The Room
As I am a Platinum member of the IHG Rewards club, I received a complimentary upgrade to a club room on the 4th floor, overlooking the main square. It was a very spacious room with 2 double beds, a relaxing seat in the corner by the window and a desk to work on by the wall. Of course it came equipped with an interactive TV screen mounted on the wall, complimentary water bottles and the usual tea and coffee making facilities.
The bathroom was beautifully clad in a very posh looking stone and equipped with a large mirror, a bath with shower head and wall, a toilet and even a bidet. While the bathroom wasn’t particularly big, I liked the way it was designed, giving you ample space to store your stuff. Besides the usual offer of towels they also offered a more upscale brand of toiletries with a very nice smell. As it was my birthday a couple of days later, the hotel also kindly presented me with a plate of all kinds of small pastries and cookies to wish me a happy birthday. The BreakfastThe breakfast was located in the main restaurant, reached by some nice looking stairs opening up in the light flooded space. It was a typical buffet offering with some eggs, bacon and sausages at the warm side as well as some cold cuts and of course some different types of cheeses (we are in France after all). Overall it was quite a nice spread for a French breakfast.
The LoungeAs I was upgraded to a club room, I also enjoyed access to the Club Lounge located on the 5th floor. It wasn’t the biggest lounge there is and the way it was arranged made it look more like a conference room. But in the evening there were some very nice wines on offer as well as a number of snacks and finger sandwiches to snack on.
Overall I really liked this hotel, as the staff where very friendly and I felt very welcome. The next time I’ll stay in Toulouse I will definably be staying at the Crowne plaza again.
