Today, 23 May, the Belgian Pride parade should have been held in Brussels. For obvious viral reasons that was impossible.
A week ago, for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT or IDAHOBIT), Antwerp Pride chairman Bart Abeel spoke at a rainbow flag raising event.
In one online he explained the essence of resilience. “Cancelling Pride is like cancelling Christmas. You can’t do that. Pride will be different. We’ll use all our creativity.”
Antwerp Pride is scheduled for 5-9 August. The Belgian Pride was originally rescheduled for 29 August. But now there will be no parade.
It should be rescheduled and not canceled.

Parades and (big) parties are cancelled, but Belgian Pride and Antwerp Pride are adamant ‘prife’ as such isn’t cancelled. It just takes another form. And then it’s up to you if you follow that train of thoughts or not 😉

Oh now I see. That’s a good thing! The pride parade is also postponed here in the Philippines, in my case I am planning to write articles about LGBTQ+ next month!
