Antwerp makes face masks mandatory on Exotic Market and Vogelenmarkt

The City of Antwerp has decided that customers on the Theaterplein markets must wear a face mask or other face covering, covering mouth and nose.

On Saturday there’s the Exotische Markt or Exotic Market. On Sunday there’s the Vogelenmarkt or Birds’ Market.

Eat and drink

You cán eat and drink on the premisses. There’s a maximum of fifteen people per vendor and people must be seated.

The last nine or ten days, Belgium has recorded an increasing amount of coronavirus COVID-19 cases. Antwerp as a province and as a city has been particularly hit.

Mayor Bart De Wever (N-VA) hopes Antwerpians will be responsible. “Also younger people can suffer much from the virus. They can also infect their elders.”

Let’s be honest. Belgians have become sloppy the past weeks. The increase in cases is no surprise.
