Exploring Melbourne CBD

Early 2020 AD. Danny and I embark on a 21st century Odyssey. On the Majestic Princess from Sydney to New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji. Back to Sydney, then to Melbourne and flying back home.

After disembarking the Majestic Princess one last time, we flew from Sydney to Melbourne. That evening, local boy Kelvin took us out for dinner in Melbourne’s Chinatown at ramen restaurant Shujinko.

Afterwards we walked to ‘Shrek building’ RMIT, with the striking green uhm thing on. As it was attacked by slimy aliens or translucent monsters from Ghostbusters.

We also went in the Victoria State Library and Melbourne Central with the Coop’s Shot Tower aka Bullet Tower

Melbourne classics

Danny and I continued our exploration of Melbourne’s CBD or Central Business District the day after. Flinders Street Station, Federation Square, Hosier Lane and AC/DC Lane with their graffitis, shopping at Myer on Bourke Street, the General Post Office (GPO), the Royal Arcade and the Block Arcade

Free trams!

In the afternoon we made use of the free trams in the green zone comprising the CBD and Docklands. Tram 35 of the Circle Line circumnavigates the CBD.

As with a hop-on-hop-off bus we saw the Parliament House of Victoria, the Old Treasury Building, the Royal Exhibition Building, the Marvel Stadion, and the Docklands amongst other landmarks.
