REVIEW | Guesthouse Flúðir

Iceland in November and December? Really? I saw an Icelandair promotion on Instagram which I couldn’t resist. The catch? It had to be late November to the start of December 2022. But I could – easily – enthuse Oriol to come along for a road trip in the South and West of Iceland. 

Our third accommodation was Guesthouse Flúðir. “Comfortable accommodation and a cosy restaurant in Flúðir, South Iceland.”

The guesthouse offers rooms with and without ensuite bathroom. As we had the budget accommodation option, we had to share a bathroom. 

The room

The room proper is small and made me think of a cabin on a ferry. Or in a boarding school. Two beds, a sink. A few pieces of furniture. Not much space. Only one or two power outlets. Basic but cosy and cosy but basic. 

We did have access to a lounge with some sofas and a television. There were some tea and coffee making facilities as well. 

As with other accommodations, Guesthouse Flúðir consists of several compounds. As November is low season, we were alone in ours. The attendant could have told us, it would have made us a bit more comfortable.

Anyway. For budget accommodation it was all very okay.

Breakfast

Guesthouse Flúðir has a restaurant and the breakfast was pretty decent. After Hotel Cabin I feared the worst. But no, there were quite a few options. Cold options, but still.

So?

Guesthouse Flúðir is a decent place to stay. It’s clean and cosy and it’s near Secret Lagoon. It has parking space as well.
