Together, Middelheim Museum and Antwerp performance arts centre De Singel together explore the space between sculpture and performance art. This summer, discover remarkable sculptures, installations, performances and performances by 25 artists from home and abroad.
New exciting relationships
During ‘Come Closer’, artist, artwork, and audience engage in new relationships. The traditional distance between the three is replaced by an exciting exchange and connection. The audience is not just a passive spectator. You can also actively participate in the creative process.
Exhibition and performance
In the group exhibition at the Middelheim Museum, you’ll discover around forty sculptures, installations, and performances. The performances at De Singel push the boundaries of performance art. A festive opening weekend and a grand closing party mark the boundaries of ‘Come Closer’. Additionally, there is a performance weekend at the museum every month.
Neighbours come closer
Middelheim Museum and De Singel are almost neighbours to each other. The museum, with its art park, focuses on developments within sculpture, in the museum and in the city.
The arts center, filled with theater, music, dance, and architecture, also explores what sculptures in public spaces can be today. In both places, sculpture and performance meet. Welcome to discover those encounters and find your place within them.
The programme. ‘Come Closer’ opens on 7 June 2024.
