Six days. Five overnight stays in five cities in Spain. Lunch in Paris. Stopover in Barcelona. Then Córdoba, Seville, Granada and Málaga. An Andalusia Whirlwind Tour where we visit the Mezquita and the Alhambra. We’re touring Andalusia in October 2023 to follow the trend of travelling to hot spots outside summer, as we did with Italy in 2022.

We stayed half a day in Córdoba. That is short, even to our standards. But Andalusia is home of some not to be missed landmarks and doing them all meant a high rhythm planning. 

So, half a day in Córdoba. Many tourists don’t stay in Córdoba, but we did.

Small but cosy

Besides de world-famous Mezquita and the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos or Castle of the Christian Monarchs, we alsi just wandered the streets, passing the Triunfo de San Rafael de la Puerta del Puente or St. Raphael’s Triumph of the Bridge Gate, the Roman Bridge and the former Synagogue and the statue of Maimonides.

Córdoba is very walkable. Its eclectic architecture and sand stone colour palette give the city a Valletta in Malta vibe.  

As our hotel, the Eurostar Palace, was half board we dined there and did not head into town for dinner.

So?

Half a day is short to really feel a city, but we did the highlights. That’s perhaps harsh on Córdoba but we’re not alone at this policy.
