Six days. Five overnight stays in five cities in Spain. Lunch in Paris. Stopover in Barcelona. Then Córdoba, Seville, Granada and Málaga. An Andalusia Whirlwind Tour where we visit the Mezquita and the Alhambra. We’re touring Andalusia in October 2023 to follow the trend of travelling to hot spots outside summer, as we did with Italy in 2022.
For our stay in Seville we decided to stay in a Historical building, located in between the railway station and the city centre. While the Hotel Posada del Lucero looks modern from the outside, inside it is a mix of some historic buildings and courtyards and modern annexes like the upper floors and pool decks.

Our first arrival was quite a bit before check-in time so we just dropped our bags and got a complete explanation of the city by the very friendly lady at the reception. When we returned later in the evening there was a much surlier gentleman manning the desk, for whom every question asked was one too many. He even handed out a faulty Wi-Fi code as we weren’t able to connect onto the network. At least the bags where already put in the room.

Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the street, instead of a normal numeric room number they had rooms consisting of a letter depicting which building it was located in, the room and then the floor number. It had two separate beds pushed together in the middle, a desk with desk chair and tv opposite it.

In the room there where coffee and tea facilities as well as two complimentary bottles of water. Later in the evening they knocked on the door to deliver a bottle of cava “to make us feel welcome at the hotel”, a very nice gesture.

The bathroom was a rather simple but clean affair, they just missed the opportunity in the shower to install a rain shower head as it suited it perfectly and just put in a normal head. The hotel also still provided miniature bottles of shampoo and shower gel, which nowadays is becoming rare.

After our walk through the city centre on the scorching hot day (for October standards) we had some relaxing time at the pool. We first took a plunge in the street side rooftop pool. This was the busier pool with more people and bar service. Later we discovered a second rooftop pool after meandering through the hotel, this was much quieter and had no bar service. The hotel gym also looked compact but nice.

As we had an early departure we were unable to have breakfast in the hotel, but as the breakfast was included in the room rate the hotel kindly provided us with a to-go bag. This was one of the most elaborate on the go breakfasts I ever received. Containing both a bottle of water and an orange juice, two pieces of fruit, a ham-cheese sandwich, some Spanish charcuteries and cheeses and of course some sweet pastries. This was much more than what we could eat.

All in all we had a very nice stay at the Posada de Lucero. Except for the surly treatment of one of the employees everything else was good and well oiled.
