The Loft by Brussels Airlines and Lexus business class lounge receives prestigious award before it closes for an extensive make-over

At the World Travel Awards in Cagliari in Sardinia, ItalyThe Loft by Brussels Airlines and Lexus at Brussels Airport was named ‘Leading Airline Lounge in Europe‘. It’s for the 7th time in a row that this lounge receives the prestigious award, shortly before it will close – for an extensive renewal.

The Loft opened its doors in 2014. With a total surface of 1,240m2 it offered back then a seat capacity for up to 300 guests. In the first four years, The Loft welcomed over 1,500 passengers on a daily base.

In 2018, Brussels Airlines teamed up with Lexus to create an inspiring space with the highest standards in hospitality. The lounge was enlarged with 800m² to welcome up to 500 guests, including an open space showcasing objects from the Lexus design awards, letting guests discover the brand’s luxury lifestyle.

The new lounge was an immediate success: in 2019 THE LOFT by Brussels Airlines and Lexus was crowned ‘Europe’s Leading Airlines Lounge’ at the World Travel Awards. From then onwards, the lounge could conquer the award each and every year.

Extensive make-over

The Loft will close its doors on 1 January 2026. The 2,040m² will be fully reimagined to offer premium travellers an even more prestigious lounge in the future. The new lounge is expected to open its doors in the course of late Summer 2026.

“The Loft has put Brussels Airlines on the map as a premium carrier and a force to be reckoned with. This lounge has been recognized seven times as Europe’s Leading Airline Lounge because we never took the award for granted. Over the years, we have consistently worked to ensure that we remain at the top. Today, however, we have reached a moment where were ready to take the next step into offering the highest standards of Belgian hospitality: the time has come to say goodbye to THE LOFT in its current form and to create something entirely new from scratch”, Yves Bernaerts, Lounge Manager at Brussels Airlines, says in the press release.

The entire team of Brussels Airlines thanks Lexus for the years of unwavering support and teamwork on The Loft. Brussels Airlines also wishes to explicitly thank other partners in the lounge, like Neuhaus, Grohe, Rombouts, Aramark, and many more.

“For seven consecutive years, The Loft by Brussels Airlines and Lexus, has been recognized as a leader in European airline lounges. Lexus brought its spirit of Omotenashi and Experience Amazing to life, not only through its design, but by inspiring the lounge staff and transforming the space into a truly unique experience for passengers. We’re proud of the teams who naturally embraced and embodied Lexus values. This award is theirs! I wish our partner Brussels Airlines every success with their rejuvenated lounge. I’m sure it will continue to inspire and delight travellers”, Dominique Bloch, The Loft Project Manager, Lexus Europe.

More information on the renovation of The Loft and temporary solutions for premium passengers will follow soon.
