April 2021. As COVID-19 still rages and we still live under coronavirus countermeasures, Oriol and I were looking fore hiking trails. As a long-time follower of Denzil‘s Discovering Belgium, I looked for inspiration on his hiking and nature blog and settled for ‘A 23 km hike around Viroinval‘.

Crossing many, many lines in Baarle-Hertog / Baarle-Nassau
Finally I made it – last summer – to Baarle-Hertog (Baerle-Duc) and Baarle-Nassau (Baerle-Nassau) in Belgium and in the Netherlands and in the Netherlands and in Belgium. I convinced, coerced, forced (it’s his choice which) Oriol to take me there.
Tri-Country Point Vaalserberg, where the Netherlands meet Belgium and Germany
After Baarle-Hertog / Baarle-Nassau, Oriol and I drove to the Vaalserberg in Limburg, where Kingdom of the Netherlands meet the Kingdom of Belgium and the Federal Republic of Germany. It’s commonly known as Drielandenpunt, Point Trifrontières or Point des Trois Frontières and Dreiländereck. It used to be a quadripoint with Neutral Moresnet.
