In August 2023, several media reported Belgium is a hotspot for summer holidaying to watch for the future. Travel destinations around the Mediterranean Sea such as Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Morocco are just experiencing too many exaggerated heat waves. 

Eurostar and five more train operators joined the European Agreement on Journey Continuation

Eurostar (formerly known as Eurostar and Thalys), MÁV-Start in Hungary, HŽPP in Croatia, LTG Link in Lithuania, PKP Intercity in Poland and GYSEV in Western Hungary and Eastern Austria have joined or will soon join the European Agreement on Journey Continuation (AJC), RailTech reports.

ÖBB’s new Nightjet sleeper cars accommodate solo travellers with Mini Cabins

On on the second Sunday of December, this year 10 December, train operators in Europe launch their new timetable. ÖBB, Austria‘s federal train operator, then introduces new Nightjet rolling stock. This new generation of Nightjet sleeper cars accommodate solo travellers, RailTech reports.. 

Trenitalia orders new Hitachi Frecciarossa trains suited for France, Belgium and the Netherlands

The Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS) also known as Trenitalia has placed a 861 million euros order with Hitachi Rail for a further 30 Frecciarossa ETR1000 high speed train sets. There is a 287 million euros option for another 10, bringing the total to 40.

Back in June 2021, a company in France called Midnight Trains launched its ‘Hotel on rails‘ project for luxury night train services worthy a hotel experience. Every Friday, Midnight Trains sends a newsletter with some sort of update on its project.

Antwerp Queer Arts Festival organises Artists Against Stigma in solidarity with people with HIV on 1-2-3 December 2023

The Antwerp Queer Arts Festival is joining forces with the artist collective HIVISIBLE and is launching a new festival concept on the occasion of World AIDS Day on 1 December. Artists Against Stigma invites artists from various disciplines to show their work on the theme of sexual health.
