NMBS / SNCB to apologize for involvement in WWII deportation transports

During World War II, Belgian railway company NMBS / SNCB collaborated closely with the German occupiers. This included the deportation of 230,000 people to concentration and extermination camps using Belgian railway trains. The company is now preparing to issue a formal apology, amongst other initiatives. 

Reopening Antwerp-Linkeroever Railway Station unfeasible in short term

Antwerp-Linkeroever Railway Station will not being reopened any time soon. While the City of Antwerp would love a reopening to compensate the closure of the Scheldt tram tunnel (for renovation works), NMBS / SNCB has ruled out this option, Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Nieuwsblad report. 

Antwerp-Berchem Railway Station up for major revamp

Antwerp-Berchem Railway Station and its surroundings are set for a major renovation, beginning with the refurbishment of the railway bridge over the Ring in August 2028 and 2029, Het Nieuwsblad reports. The City of Antwerp is participating in a study on a new station building and the redevelopment of the surrounding area.

Spanish CAF to provide trains for NMBS / SNCB AM30

Train manufacturer Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) from Spain is said to have won a major contract to build hundreds of new AM30 / MR30 electric multiple units (EMU) for Belgian railway company NMBS / SNCB. The CAF Civity Duo then could be a base for the AM30.
