Melbourne’s Old Treasury Building and Parliament of Victoria

Early 2020 AD. Danny and I embark on a 21st century Odyssey. On the Majestic Princess from Sydney to New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji. Back to Sydney, then to Melbourne and flying back home.

As we had some time left after exploring the suburbs, we visited the Old Treasury Building

The OTB is also a museum. We didn’t have much time left, so we quickly visited the vaults were we had explanations on the 19th century gold rush. There’s a replica of Welcome Stranger

Also in the basement you can see how the 1920 concierge and is large family lived in a five-room appartement.

On the ground level the galleries have changing exhibitions, but also panels on the military conscription referendum of 1916 and Melbourne as Australia’s capital city.

Parliament of Victoria

Unfortunately we couldn’t enter the Parliament of Victoria because we were too late. But there are free tours. Parliament is ope for visitors on weekdays from 9AM to 4PM.
