Early 2020 AD. Timothy and I embark on a 21st century Odyssey. On the Majestic Princess from Sydney to New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji. Back to Sydney, then to Melbourne and flying back home.

After arriving with a small delay from Sydney, we walked from our arrival gate in Terminal 2 to the SilverKris Lounge in Terminal 2. This used to be Singapore Airlines’ flagship lounge before they moved most operations to the newer and larger Terminal 3. Unfortunately the lounge was stuck in that heyday and feels like it hasn’t been updated since. It basically is one big relatively dark room without windows and a bunch of seating, mostly in the same style although there was a small business centre aswell.

The buffet offered different types of dishes and drinks but they didn’t appear very appetising at all.

There were also some showers in the toilets, the shower rooms where very small and did not have a toilet inside of them. The rain shower head was nice to shower under however and just like Cathay Pacific the shower did have extra amenities like toothbrushes and combs so you did not have to bring your own.

The Terminal 2 lounge is a good lounge, and it still outshines some other lounges around the world but it could clearly do with a refurb as it is starting to show its age and in my opinion it is not up to the standard Singapore Airlines would like to be.
