The 18th edition (since 2008) of Antwerp Pride took place from Wednesday 6 to Sunday 10 August 2025 in Antwerp. This year’s theme was “Do not just march! Listen. Understand. Commit”. Prides are a mix of celebration – parties – and activism and advocacy. For the 2025 edition, the organising committee focused on belonging. Belonging to the society at large – the ‘outside world’ – but also belonging within the rainbow realm.
The organisers of Antwerp Pride’s ‘Beyond Pride‘ programme have announced two upcoming events intended to combine cultural reflection with community debate.
On Thursday 25 September 2025, Zaal Elckerlyc in Antwerp will host a free screening of ‘Lost Boys & Fairies‘, the acclaimed BBC drama series by writer Daf James.
The three-part production tells the story of Gabriel (Siôn Daniel Young), who, together with his partner Andy (Fra Fee) hopes to adopt a child while coming to terms with a difficult past. The series, partly based on James’s own experiences, has been noted for its candid depiction of the adoption process, its musical sequences featuring drag performance, and the use of the Welsh language.
First broadcast in primetime on BBC One, James has described its national exposure as a “triumph”. The screening begins at 8 PM, with doors opening an hour earlier. Registration in advance is required.
Beyond Pride: day of debate
A second Beyond Pride event is scheduled for Sunday 26 October 2025.
Taking place from 10 AM to 6 PM, it will focus on discussions, workshops and forums addressing current social issues within and beyond the LGBTQIA+ community.
Organisers describe the day as an opportunity for critical debate, the exchange of views and the exploration of possible responses to contemporary challenges. The event seeks to extend the scope of Pride beyond celebration and to encourage reflection on social engagement and inclusion in the city.
Both activities form part of Beyond Pride, an initiative that positions Antwerp Pride as not only a cultural festival but also a space for dialogue and debate about equality and diversity. Sign up here.
