On Instagram, NMBS / SNCB showed of a new rainbow-clad Siemens Desiro for Brussels Pride and for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, aka IDAHOT or IDAHOBIT.

“At NMBS / SNCB, we celebrate diversity and reaffirm our commitment to an inclusive environment, founded on respect”, the Belgian train operator says. 

In 2023, NMBS / SNCB presented Desiro number 8586 in the ‘classic’ rainbow colours. The new trainbow us number 8044. 

For this Pride Week in Brussels, stations will be illuminated in rainbow colors and rainbow flags will be visible. “The Trainbow train in the colours of diversity. Take a look behind the scenes at our workshop in Mechelen.”

Change Station

For Brussels Pride, Brussels-Central Railway Station will host a ‘Change Station‘, where Pride attendees can change into their Pride outfit. Some don’t like the idea of travelling to the Pride events in such an outfit. 

“Trains bring cities closer together… but, above all, they bring people closer. And everyone should be free to be themselves.”

The first trainbow Desiro, AM08/MR08 8586, is to lose its rainbow stripes soon, when it gets a thorough revision.
