Belgium to pay railway infrastructure fee and traction energy costs to lure night trains to Brussels
The federal government will provide financial support to operators of night trains with at least one stop in Belgium. This should make Brussels an “international rail hub”, argues Minister of Mobility Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo).

Dutch company GreenCityTrip already organised charter night train voyages to Venice, Prague, Milan, Vienna, Verona and Innsbruck. It now adds Copenhagen in Denmark; Gothenburg and Malmö in Sweden; Bologna, Florence, Bolzano and Como in Italy and Salzburg and Linz in Austria.

Swedish rail operator SJ AB has announced a night train service from Sweden‘s capital Stockholm to Hansestadt Hamburg in Germany from 2022. At least for now there will not be a nigh train service from Malmö to Brussels.

ÖBB Nightjet to Brussels to ride three times a week, Innsbruck route scrapped
ÖBB, the Federal Railways of Austria, is scrapping its Innsbruck route. That is the reason why we booked a voyage on it a few weeks ago. The Vienna – Brussels – Vienna service will run three times a week as of December 2020.
