City of Antwerp‘s real estate agency AG Vespa has presented a first design for the future Spoorpark (Rail Park) linking the Zurenborg neighbourhood to Borgerhout. The public gets a new opportunity for input.
The Promenade Plantée in Paris is a 4.7 km or 2.9 mile elevated linear park built on top of obsolete railway infrastructure in the 12th arrondissement. It was inaugurated in 1993.
The Zurenborg neighbourhood in Antwerp is more than the Cogels-Osylei. It’s street with names of cinstellations (e.g. Stierstraat – Taurus Street and Tweelingenstraat – Gemini Street).
The Cogels-Osylei in district Berchem is the gateway and the jewel on the crown in the Zurenborg neigbourhood of Antwerp.
Due to its location and intensions, the future Spoorpark (Rail Park) linking the Antwerp neighbourhood of Zurenborg with the District of Borgerhout reminds remotely of The High Line in New York City and the original La Promenade Plantée in Paris.
