Early 2020 AD. Danny and I embark on a 21st century Odyssey. On the Majestic Princess from Sydney to New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji. Back to Sydney, then to Melbourne and flying back home.
We did this cruise before the coronavirus epidemic became a pandemic. We are very aware the travel industry and in particular the cruising industry is hit hard by the consequences of the pandemic. Travelling and cruising may never be the same again. But this is how we experienced cruising on the Majestic Princess in January and February 2020.
We booked a cabin or stateroom with balcony, but sometime in 2019 we got upgraded. The difference? A large wardrobe with heaps of coat hangers.
Beige is the predominant colour in the stateroom. A small corridor leads to the right the bathroom with surprisingly large shower and to the wardrobe.
Straight ahead are the two bed, a desk, a sofa, a small table and further on the terrace. Obviously there is a television screen.
Power outlets are American, European and Australian and Chinese. There are two USB outlets to charge mobile devices, but only near one bed.
The stateroom is well lid. It is reasonably sound proof.
We enjoyed some quiet time in our cabin and often used the balcony to read, check the inside of our eyelids or have breakfast.
