
City archeologists are researching recent excavations of the old castle at the Noorderterras (Northern Terrace) in Antwerp. Just behind the Steen (Stone) castle.
The site holds artifacts from the Roman, Carolingian and Ottonian (9th to 11th century) periods. Already some remnants of the castle wall have been made visible.
The castle was a residence, but also housed the court of justice and the Saint Walburga parish.
