ANTWERP PRIDE 2024 | Pride in Town, Friday 9 August, Sint-Andriesplaats

The 17th edition of Antwerp Pride takes place from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 August 2024. This year’s theme is ‘Many Voices. One Pride‘. The organising committee advocates a more militant pride, with a “we’re not going back in the closet” attitude in reaction to rising conservatism and conformism. But let’s face it: pride is also celebration. In the run up to August, let’s look at activities and events. Also don’t forget Antwerp Queer Arts Festival from 3 to 31 August.

Antwerp Pride once again invites everyone to the Sint-Andriesplaats for a special Pride in Town experience.

“Immerse yourself in a rich tapestry of literary and musical performances. The lineup includes the captivating sounds of talented artists such as DROM, Jaouad Alloul and Alexander Piper. The evening will conclude with dynamic deejay sets by Gisgawa ft. MC Lyp’s and Ilse Liebens”, Antwerp Pride board member Kaat Van Nuffel says

Other featuring artists are Slongs & Iiio and Ilse Liebens.

“2024 Antwerp Pride’s theme is: Many Voices. One Protest. Many Voices. One Community. Many Voices. One Celebration. Many Voices. One Parade. Many Voices. One Pride.”

“Pride in Town aims to focus on the core issues of Pride: advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, sharing personal stories, and acknowledging the struggles the community faces (One Protest).”

“LGBTQIA+ people often experience fear and concern for their safety, due to various forms of discrimination and intolerance they face in society. These fears are not unfounded, as they are rooted in both historical and ongoing incidents of violence, harassment, and prejudice.”

“Pride in Town wants to unite the LGBTQIA+ community (One Community) and emphasize mutual support. Together with our allies, we unite in a more intimate environment where everyone can celebrate their identity (One Celebration).”

“Pride in Town wishes to foster deeper, more personal connections between the attendees (One Pride). It is an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and shared experiences.”
