The Arenberg theatre venue in Antwerp is gearing up for a vibrant spring packed with queer performances, talks and parties, inviting audiences to celebrate creativity, diversity and unapologetic self-expression. From internationally acclaimed drag to intimate talks and large-scale queer nights, the coming months promise a strong and varied programme.
One of the highlights is Sasha Velour’s ‘Travesty‘ on 19 May. The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race 2017 and renowned visual artist brings a new narrative triptych to the stage, combining striking imagery with powerful storytelling.
Queer history takes centre stage with ‘Classical Queers’, premiering on 19 February. Rising star Johannes Wirix-Speetjens adapts his book of the same name into a live performance, shedding light on overlooked queer artists throughout history in a moving and inspiring production.
A queer day and night
On 21 February, Arenberg once again hosts ‘A Queer Night‘, curated by Fleur Pierets and Kirsten van Teijn. The evening features a strong line-up of drag kings and queens, comedy, ballroom, and a 30-member choir, followed by an afterparty with DJ Vera More and cocktails by Britt (Match Belgium).
During the day, ‘Intergenerational Queer Table Talks‘, organised by Cavalier Queer, will offer three free panel discussions focusing on intersectionality, queer community organising, and themes of rules, roles and revolt.
Additional events this season include book presentations, theatre and performance works, with upcoming dates featuring Fleur Pierets, The Obsessors, DEVICKY. (‘Wax the pain away‘), and Dressed Like Boys Invites.
All events take place at Arenberg, Arenbergstraat 28, 2000 Antwerp. Tickets and further information are available via Arenberg’s official channels.
