The Philippines in 1996-1997, China in 2000, Vietnam in 2009, Japan in 2013 and 2025, South Korea in 2014 and 2024, Taiwan in 2017 (the starting point of Trip By Trip), Singapore in 2018, Hong Kong and Macau in 2023. I like travelling to East Asia. Yet I never visited Thailand, for many westerners the starting point of Asia travels. Unexpectedly, my request for time off in January 2026 was granted, so I decided to not stay home. I booked flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia for a ten-day gay solo trip. 

In my American Express plan is included a membership to Priority Pass and four included accesses to an airport lounge. I decided to use one of these at The View, Brussels Airport‘s own lounge at the B-Gates. The B-Gates are used by flights to destinations outside the Schengen Area. 

From the get-go I can tell you The View is way nicer than the Diamond Lounge, Brussels Airport’s intra-Schengen lounge at the A-Gates. 

The View located above Gate B04. It’s corridor is way nicer than the one leading to the Diamond lounge. 

Predictable features

The View does not surprise. It features what you expect from such a lounge:

• different seating options: tables to eat, lower ‘coffee tables’ with seats, desk-type tables;
• a buffet with different options: breakfasty items, snavks, lunch and dinner-like options;
• WiFi;
• apron views;
• it’s own toilet facilities and shower facilities. 

It also has shower facilities and the buffet has a staffed omelet station. That was a pleasant surprise. 

A relatively short stay

I sat at a table designed for eating. I don’t remember my spot having a power outlet, which is something which could be missed. I forgot to check where outlets can be found. 

My table was sticky from jam of the previous user. It’s a bit of a shame it hadn’t been wiped clean. 

But I was pleasantly surprised by the food offering. Compared to the Diamand Lounnge, the View is a step up. 

So?

It was one of my four complimentary lounge visit allowances well spent.
