ANTWERP | Goshka Macuga’s ‘Figures of Absence’ honours underrepresented women in public domain art
In 2021, artist Goshka Macuga from Poland was commissioned by Kunst in de Stad (Art in the City) to create a new work for the annual ‘Public Figure‘ presentation series. The City of Antwerp has now bought the artwork. It has received a place in the Stadspark (City Park).

The return of a Brussels – Luxembourg – Strasbourg – Basel train?
In the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, some dream of a renewed direct train connection to Switzerland. Basel SBB Railway Station isn’t that far away from Luxembourg. It could be a night train or a day train, both originating in Brussels.
2022: continuation or progress?
On January 1st, 2021 we wrote “2021 a fresh start or a transition year?“. It seems like neither of those. A fresh start? Not really. 2020 and 2021 felt very similar. Transition? It implies 2022 would be like 2019. And that seems unlikely. Unfortunately, in 2022 COVID-19 will remain the main talking point.
Trenitalia aspires to run trains from Milan to Brussels and Amsterdam
From 18 December 2021, Trenitalia operates a daily high speed train service between Milan, Turin, Lyon and Paris. In the future the subsidiary of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS) also wants trains from Italy to Brussels in Belgium and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Trenitalia has also ambitions in the United Kingdom and in Spain.
