Lucerne or Luzern is a top destination in Switzerland, with its Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge) and Löwendenkmal (Lion’s Monument). But don’t forget the Verkerhshaus or Swiss Museum of Transport.
Here at Trip By Trip we love a good transport and/or railway museum. On top is the National Railway Museum in York. The Verkehrshaus makes a great effort.
The tour starts with Swiss railway history. That’s no surprise. Due to Swiss geography, building railways is an engineering feat.
After the train collection, the museum continues to road traffic, in a lovely building with road sings on the facade. After cars and bikes, there’s a collection of ships, of airplanes and spacecrafts.
All in all the Verkehrshaus is worth a visit. Allow two-three hours. Here are some photos.
