A weekend in Paris

Paris_Pompidou

In January I accompanied Bert and Wim to a Vladimir Cosma concert at Le Grand Rex. A perfect excuse for a weekend in Paris.

Paris being close to our hometown Antwerp in Belgium, we tend to go for short stays. Also, as I have been in Paris often and will go again, two days is nice enough.

What did we do?

We travelled with Thalys and checked in at the Mercure Paris Opéra Faubourg Montmartre Hotel. Then we did a tour of the Louvre Museum. Click on the links to read the reviews.

In the evening we had duck – when in France – at La Comète, 19 Rue du Faubourg Montmarte.

The Vladimir Cosma concert was fun and nostalgic. Cosma composed the score for many French film and television productions.

A wet Sunday

Bert and Wim left on Sunday morning. I decided to visit the Musée de Cluny – Musée national du Moyen Âge and the Conciergerie with the Sainte-Chapelle. Click on the links to read the reviews.

It was a wet and windy day. Yet I took a long walk passed the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, the Hôtel de Ville city hall and the Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville (BHV) departement store. It’s situated at the edge of the LGBT friendly Le Marais neighbourhood.

Next to the Centre Pompidou, I had crêpes at Crêperie Beaubourg, 2 Rue Brisemiche.

I decided to walk them of by walking to Gare de l’Est (Paris East) and Gare du Nord (Paris North). My train home awaited.

What do you do when in Paris?
