October 2022. As we wanted to test Trenitalia‘s Frecciarossa 1000 service from Paris to Milan, we planned a rail trip around it. From Antwerp to Paris with Thalys, the ‘Red Arrow’ to Milan and once in Italy continuing to Trieste and Bologna. The return trip took us to Basel in Switzerland to enjoy SBB‘s panoramic coach and Germany‘s Rhine route to Cologne. From there we got back to Belgium.
As we arrived late in Milan on our Frecciarosa from Paris and we would have an early outbound Frecciargento the next day to Trieste, we decided to just have a quick nap at a hotel nearby the Central Station. We selected the Just Hotel right opposite the square of the station. It’s a small hotel located in a rather bland office building.

The ground floor is just a door with a hallway leading past the reception desk to the elevators. After a short check-in we continued upwards to our room located at the backside of the hotel.
A peculiarity of the hotel was that all hallways where fully tiled, including the walls, a theme that continued inside the room. It was the first time I slept in a fully tiled bedroom, which was a bit of a special design decision. The room had both a big double bed and a small single bed. I an alcove near the window was a small desk area.

The bathroom continued the fully tiled styling with a nice sink area and an enclosed rainfall shower. The shower was a bit dark due to lack of light in the alcove, this could be improved. The toiletries provided were also quite simple with some bars of soap as well as some bottles of hair and body wash.

While the hotel did provided breakfast, we didn’t make use of it due to our early departure onwards. In the end we got what we wanted, just a hotel for the night. I think it is an excellent choice for anyone in need of a short overnight stay near the Milan central station.
