Brussels Airlines is gearing up for the 2025 Easter and spring holidays in Belgium, expecting to transport approximately one million passengers throughout the season. The airline, the fastest-growing carrier within the Lufthansa Group, has increased its capacity by 20% compared to the same period in 2024.
Belgian schools take their Easter break in two waves: Dutch-speaking schools will have their holidays from Saturday 5 April to Monday 21 April 2025 while French-speaking schools will be on spring break from Saturday 26 April to Sunday 11 May 2025.
During each wave, Brussels Airlines anticipates flying around 500,000 passengers.
IATA
As part of its ambitious growth strategy, Brussels Airlines has expanded its fleet since Easter 2024. The airline has added an extra long-haul Airbus 330, an additional Airbus 320 for its European network, and contracted a wet lease of four Airbus 220 aircraft, which will operate on behalf of Brussels Airlines until the end of the IATA summer season. These additions contribute to the airline’s overall 20% capacity increase compared to last year.
The International Air Transport Association defines two seasons: summer season starts on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October. The rest is winter season.
Predictable destinations
This growth allows Brussels Airlines to enhance its network by adding new destinations and increasing frequencies on existing routes. Notably, on the first day of the holiday period, the airline will introduce a new destination to its network: Funchal in Madeira.
The top five destinations for Belgian travelers these Easter and spring breaks are Málaga, Barcelona, Rome, Lisbon, and Madrid.
“Demand for the Easter holidays is exceptionally high, particularly for sunny destinations. For those still looking for a last-minute getaway, I’d recommend checking destinations such as Berlin, Copenhagen or Prague, where we still have some availability. We are also thrilled to welcome Funchal to our network, a destination renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty”, Greet Vandebos, Head of Leisure Sales at Brussels Airlines, says in the press release.
