The highlight of highlights for prides is the pride parade or Pride March. This year, the Brussels Pride parade is on 17 May. And 17 May is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. IDAHOT or IDAHOBIT. This year, the theme ‘Unite, time to protect our rights‘ will call for a society where everyone’s fundamental rights are respected daily. A powerful and unifying message, more essential than ever in these troubled times when the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community are still too often challenged.
“Pride March is a must-attend event for all those who wish to celebrate diversity and inclusion. Whether you’re a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally, everyone is invited to participate in this day of celebration, love and tolerance”, Brussels Pride says.
Pride March is Brussels Pride – In the Capital of Europe‘s flagship event.
“Pride’s objective is to celebrate diversity, tolerance and acceptance of all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, with a march through the streets of the capital.”
Festive
Pride March is a demonstration that moves through the streets of Brussels, accompanied by props, floats and a festive, musical atmosphere. It leaves from the Mont des Arts at 14:30 or 2:30 PM and is expected to arrive around 18:00 or 6 PM.
“Everyone is welcome to participate in Pride March. There is no specific theme for Pride March… But that doesn’t mean you can’t bring out your best outfits for the occasion! The event does, however, have an overarching theme, which is ‘Unite, time to protect our rights’.”
Accessibility and inclusiveness
Children and people with disabilities are also more than welcome at Pride March. Accessibility and inclusiveness are essential and measures are taken to make the march an event that is open to all.
“Pride March is a must-attend event for all those who wish to celebrate diversity and inclusion. Whether you’re a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally, everyone is invited to participate in this day of celebration, love and tolerance.”

The Pride March itself is funded by visit.brussels. So love it or hate it, but the parade is festive, includes floats and there are political parties participating.
