The Rolling Tables dinner train experience in Belgium from 1 August 2025 and in the Netherlands from 1 November 2025

In 2024, Dinner Train was going to offer dine and ride train experiences in Belgium after doing so in the Netherlands. It never happened. Now, the concept gets a second chance under the brand The Rolling Tables

The first The Rolling Tables Dinner Experience is scheduled for Friday 1 August 2025, from Ghent-Saint-Peter’s. A day later, on Saturday 2 August, a ride is scheduled around Sint-Niklaas (Saint Nicholas, Saint-Nicolas).

“Cooking and serving on a moving train? That’s a specialty in itself. With The Rolling Tables we deliver a unique experience on wheels: flavourful dishes, great company and ever-changing views. That experience is brought to life by the team at Wagon Plastron“, the website says.

From clattering pans to a perfectly served dinner on a wobbling table. They master it down to the last detail. Hospitality is in their DNA, with decades of expertise in railway gastronomy dating back to the Wagon-Lits era.

Wagon Plastron

“Wagon Plastron provides a customer oriented crew and a hospitality minded service on board of national and international day and night trains”, LinkedIn learns.

The company provides the catering on board European Sleeper. It has an office in Erembodegem

Lunching or dining on board

Dining aboard a moving train is being reimagined by The Rolling Tables, a chef who brings restaurant-quality cuisine to the rails. “As the train glides through changing landscapes, guests are treated to a menu that evolves with the seasons — from light, fresh flavours in summer to rich, comforting dishes in winter.”

Each journey offers a new culinary experience. With a focus on seasonal, high-quality ingredients, The Rolling Tables crafts meticulously prepared plates where taste, texture and presentation are perfectly balanced. The result is a dining experience that surprises and delights, all served in a uniquely mobile setting.

“More than just a meal, it’s an occasion. Whether guests are travelling with friends, family or colleagues, The Rolling Tables turns every ride into a shared moment of flavour, storytelling and connection.”

Prices

It’s not cheap. Prices range from 169 to 295 euros per person, depending on what you book exactly.

Running trains are expensive. Electricity, rolling stock, staff and train path. It is very expensive to ‘rent space’ on Infrabel‘s rail network.

The Rolling Tables in Belgium

The Rolling Tables are scheduling rides from Aalst (Alost), Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, Hasselt, Kortrijk (Courtrai), Liège (Luik), Mechelen (Mechlin, Malines), Ostend, Schaerbeek (Schaarbeek) for Brussels and Sint-Niklaas.

Check the calendar to know where and when.

Day trips at Christmas

A novel product is a day trip from Belgium or the Netherlands to a Christmas Market in Germany.

From Belgium, there is a day trip to Cochem in Rhineland-Palatinate in the Moselle region; and one to Trier (Trèves) in the same area.

The booking module offers departures from Aachen, Verviers-Central, Liège-Guillemins, Leuven (Louvain), Brussels-Central, Ghent-Dampoort and Antwerp-Berchem

Netherlands

Operation from the Netherlands start later, in November. The first activity is a day trip to the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg in Lower Saxony. Then there are excursions to the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg

The Rolling Tables also have lunch and dinner rides from Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague.

So?

Unlike Dinner Train, The Rolling Tables is ‘Belgium heavy’. Wagon Plastron is not a novice company and Train Charter Services also have the know-how

Danny booked a ride in August.
