REVIEW | Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront Vancouver

In May and June 2023, we travelled from east to west across Canada. From Halifax in Nova Scotia to Montreal in Quebec, to Toronto in Ontario, to Vancouver and Whistler in British Columbia. Along the way some night trains and commuter trains, the Niagara Falls and – imagine this – a bus journey. A true Trans-Canada Train Trek.

After our 5-day long trip on The Canadian we made it to Vancouver, quite early in the morning at 8 AM. We then took the sky train towards our hotel, the Pinnacle Harbourfront. We were very lucky that our rooms where already ready at this early time so we could settle in and freshen up a bit.

The room was a typical North American two double beds room for four persons, Sam and I were sharing with Timothy (to cut costs) while my parents were sleeping in a different room. The big windows could open fully and let in some fresh air, very welcome after 5 days of canned air.

The beds where comfortable but slightly narrow. There weren’t a lot of plugs in the walls, but the hotel solved this by putting multi plug and usb plug distributors on the night stand.

The bathroom was also pretty standard with a single sink and a tub/shower combination. The multiple use toiletries were also of a good quality.

The hotel offered a nice swimming pool and hot tub on the 4th floor, even having an outside sun terrace.

In the morning we had the breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant, once again a very standard offering. The croissants where a bit stale but all the rest was pretty ok. The only thing that stood out was the service, it was still very much old-school service straight from the heart of the staff that clearly enjoyed working there.

All in all we had an excellent stay at the Pinnacle Harbourfront.

The hotel is still a true classic hotel experience, and that is a good thing, Friendly well trained and motivated staff that still has knowledge of dealing with customers in the good old ways. The demographic of the hotel clearly reflects this as it caters to a mostly older clientele.

While the hotel starts to look dated in some areas, the service makes up for it and it is more than a solid stay in Vancouver, I would even go as far as saying that it was one of our favourite hotels on the trip.
