From 25 March 2024, European Sleeper will go further than Berlin and continue to Dresden and Prague. The capital of Czechia had always been its target, but engineering works in Germany prevented this. Barcelona is a next target.
From March 2024, the European Sleeper will run from Brussels to Prague on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and return on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The scheduled departure time in Brussels is 7:22 PM, passing Antwerp-Central at 8:01 PMafter which the train will arrive in Amsterdam at 10:34 PM, arrive in Berlin at 6:18 AM and arrive in Prague at 10:48 AM. Conversely, the train leaves Prague at 6:04 PM and then stops in Berlin at 10:45 PM, in Amsterdam Central Station at 6:31 AM, Antwerp at 8:43 AM and arrives back in Brussels at 9:52 AM.
According to European Sleeper, these times are not yet final.
Barcelona next?
European Sleeper has ambitious plans and also wants to serve the French Alps in the winter season and eventually serving Barcelona-Sants.
The company is looking to purchase renovated (and ultimately new) sleeping carriages. These new carriages also make new routes possible, for example Amsterdam-Barcelona.
The rolling currently used is old and ‘rustic’, although European Sleeper does make effort to make the journey as pleasant as possible.

European Sleeper previously submitted an application to the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) in the Netherlands. European Sleeper’s plan to serve Barcelona from 2025 has been selected by the European Commission as one of ten pilot projects to improve cross-border rail transport in Europe. But this support is not financial.
