Rail news website Mobilithib, by Thibault Lapers, has uncovered a series of timetable changes affecting international rail services through Belgium.
From 7 September 2026, ÖBB‘s Nightjet from Brussels to Vienna will no longer stop at Liège-Guillemins on its southbound journey, instead calling at Verviers-Central because of capacity constraints around Liège following the launch of Deutsche Bahn‘s new Cologne to Antwerp ICE service.
The new European Sleeper from Brussels to Milan service, launching on 9 September, will also replace its Liège-Guillemins stop with Verviers-Central in both directions. European Sleeper told Mobilithib the changes are required because of limited capacity on the Leuven–Liège corridor. From the December 2026 timetable change, the Brussels–Milan service will also be rerouted via Antwerp, Breda, and Eindhoven, allowing passengers in the Netherlands to board the overnight train.
Mobilithib also reports that the OUIGO Train Classique service between Brussels and Paris has no longer called at Creil since 4 July, reportedly because of low demand and operational constraints.
NMBS / SNCB has also confirmed it is studying the introduction of a fourth daily Brussels–Paris OUIGO Train Classique service from December 2026, with industry sources expecting the additional train to operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
