EUROPEAN SLEEPER | Brussels to Barcelona night train to stop in Avignon, Montpellier, Narbonne, and Girona

In a May 2025 newsletter, European Sleeper lets slip its Barcelona-bound night train service will stop at Avignon, Montpellier, Narbonne in France, and Gerona / Girona in Spain‘s Catalonia region. This service will depart from Brussels in Belgium

European Sleeper is looking for (extra) funds for this enterprise. The night train brand already runs train from Brussels to Berlin in Germany and Prague in Czechia and a winter / carnival season train from Belgium to Venice in Italy via Austria

“European Sleeper’s mission is to get more night trains on tracks across Europe. We want to make sustainable train travel more attractive than ever. We don’t receive any subsidies or government support — we’ve built this company completely independently. New routes are made possible thanks to investments and donations from our amazing community. Right now, we’re preparing our new route to Barcelona. Your support means the world to us”, the company says.

No Paris or Lyon

“Since Lyon wasn’t listed as a stop, I suspect the train from Brussels is scheduled to arrive in Avignon very early, or very late in the opposite direction, so a stop in Lyon would be inconvenient”, the germanophone Fernbus und Ferzug Forum comments.

“It’s a shame that there are apparently no plans to also serve Paris, even if only in the extended periphery. In such a multi-million-strong center, there would certainly be some passenger potential. But a lot of things can still change in the plans…”

But Brussels to Paris is well-covered by day trains.
