ANTWERP PRIDE 2022 | Human Rights Friday

It’s that time of the year again: Antwerp Pride and Antwerp Queer Arts Festival. Pride focuses on the second weekend of August: from Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14. AQAF runs from 5 to 28 August. In 2022, Antwerp Pride turns 15 and looks 15 years into the future under the banner of ‘Queertopia‘. AQAF hasn’t communicated a specific theme.

Since a few years, the Friday during Antwerp Pride makes time for more serious activities under the banner Human Rights Friday. This year, the intersection between being LGBTQIA+ and the workplace is the topic being discussed. In the afternoon, Human Rights Friday focuses on the future.

“Come and get inspired during our annual Human Rights Friday where we focus on this year’s theme: Queertopia.”

“In the morning we welcome you at the headquarters of DPG Media where we will organise a conference on inclusion in a working environment. Together with KLIQ and Untitled Workers Club we will listen to the practices of some of the leading companies in Belgium and give tips and information on how to make your company a safer space for all employees.”

The future

“Un the afternoon we welcome you at De Studio, where you can choose from two panel discussions. One discussion delves deeper into our theme and we will look towards the future of our community.”

“The other discussion is for trans people, their allies and people who want to educate themselves on the current situation and problems the trans community still has to face up to.

“We finish the day with the documentary ‘I am Samuel‘, an intimate portrait of a Kenyan man torn between balancing duty to his family and his love for Alex. This heartwarming film will be introduced by Samuel himself and Annette Nyabundi, one of the producers.

Check the website and social media for up to date information. This event is organised together with Het Roze Huis and Wel Jong.
